Today on Days of Our Lives, Brady and Steve enlist Johnny’s help, Sarah asks Xander for a favor, and Stephanie worries that Joy is manipulating Alex.
Xander stops by Chanel and Johnny’s place carrying a bouquet of flowers for the expectant mom. And Johnny isn’t pleased. He may have forgiven Xander, but Chanel certainly hasn’t. Even so, Johnny takes the flowers for her and Xander leaves after offering his condolences. “I sometimes forget that you have a heart,” Johnny quips.
Sarah — who was just cleared of any responsibility — reviews Destiny’s death once again with Kayla. Sarah has discovered that there was a cluster of deaths involving Coriseal in the victims’ systems around the time Destiny’s sister died. Kayla immediately senses that something is wrong the moment she hears “DiMera Pharmaceuticals.”
Steve and Brady Team Up With Johnny
Steve updates Brady on the wedding trip, then welcomes his new partner to Black Patch. A little late, considering Brady is already working a case for Sarah! He fills Steve in, and Steve promises to use his ISA contacts to investigate Liam and his sudden influx of cash. (Barking up the wrong tree, fellas!)
They head over to Johnny to ask questions of the only — or at least one of the only — DiMeras they trust about DiMera Pharmaceuticals. EJ was CEO when the tainted drugs may have been sold. (Wasn’t Kristen? EJ certainly wasn’t, which is bad, bad news.) And there could be a public health crisis if those drugs are still circulating.
Johnny doesn’t know much, but Steve and Brady believe DiMera operatives were selling tainted drugs on the street, possibly under EJ’s orders. They want Johnny to do some digging without letting EJ know what’s going on. Since lives may depend on it, Johnny agrees to step up.
Joy Panics Alex
Stephanie wakes up late and is happy to see that Alex fixed the wall. She’s much less happy when Joy calls from the hospital with Kelsey in a panic. Alex rushes out, thanking Stephanie for understanding, which feels a bit presumptuous. He hurries to Joy and discovers that… Kelsey simply got her shots and freaked out.
Alex hung up before Joy had a chance to explain. (Joy’s innocent act is wearing thinner and thinner.) She actually called because of insurance issues and a $600 bill for Kelsey. Alex shrugs it off as no big deal. (Rich people problems… the rest of us go bankrupt going to the doctor.)
But he promises to cover the bills until Kelsey can be added to his insurance. Joy is overjoyed by the news. “Just call me if you need anything else,” Alex says, assuring her that they aren’t alone.
Stephanie’s Worried About Joy
Kayla visits Stephanie and gets an earful about Alex rushing to Joy the moment trouble appears. Kayla checks with the hospital — it was only a routine appointment — so Stephanie suspects Joy may have manipulated the situation to get Alex running to her side. (OK, she didn’t use the dog metaphor.)
But Kayla insists it may simply have been a misunderstanding.
She then asks how therapy went, and Stephanie immediately gets defensive before admitting there may be some childhood attachment wounds involved — but it’s not Kayla and Steve’s fault! (Well, they are the ones who chose to raise her in Salem.)
Alex returns home and Stephanie is slightly annoyed to learn it was all due to an “insurance snafu.” Stephanie loves that he’s stepping up as a father… and hates it at the same time. He’s going to be spending a lot of time with Joy and Kelsey, and she can’t be there to help. And when she asks how he thinks this arrangement will work in the long run… he has absolutely no answers.
Sarah Enlists Xander’s Help
Sarah visits Xander at Titan and tells him about Destiny’s death, DiMera Pharmaceuticals and the fact that “Since Titan acquired DiMera in the merger…” there may still be company records somewhere.
No, no, of course not, everything was scrubbed! That would be unethical. Sarah just stares at Xander, and he doesn’t miss a beat. “Just tell me what you need.”
Xander makes it clear that this isn’t official business, so they shouldn’t communicate through normal channels. And she should be careful around EJ. If they uncover anything, she should come to him first and not confront the Monster of Salem. He still cares about Sarah, and EJ is dangerous.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Kayla and Steve are catching each other up on the Destiny situation at the Pub when Joy arrives with Kelsey. Kayla introduces them to Steve and insists that Stephanie is sorry about what happened.
“No sorrier than I am.”
Steve tries to talk with her about the ban, but Joy simply smiles and heads upstairs.
Meanwhile, Sarah and Brady compare notes about Destiny. Johnny and Xander are working the case. Brady isn’t happy to hear about his uncle, but Sarah convinces him that every lead is worth pursuing. Besides, it’s time to find Liam.
Xander places a call requesting the DiMera files from two years ago, while Johnny does some digging on his laptop. All he discovers is that the file is gone.
